It turns out playing a Hex+ Eldritch Blast spamming warlock is the key to making BG3 more enjoyable. Just like in regular D&D if you choose to play as a martial class you’re going to have a horrible time continuously missing attacks that have +90% success rates

here's a magic item I made for the big dungeon I've been working on for over a year now (most of them are turbo busted)

HEART OF THE CONQUEROR BEETLE
HEART OF THE CONQUEROR BEETLE - This ancient ruby is the size of your fist and pulses with warm light, its top and bottom are wrapped in narrow bands of bronze, each engraved with repeating depictions of heavy-shelled beetles. This relic was once the heart of a powerful magical creature, the Conqueror Beetle, whose armor shattered a thousand thousand blades, whose strength broke the Olde Kingdoms, tossing the great stones of their foundations aside like children’s blocks. Never defeated, merely bound, the Conqueror Beetle’s heart was carved from its chest and, as soon as it touched the fresh air, it shrunk and hardened into the ruby you now hold in your hand. The Heart of the Conqueror Beetle calls out psychically to the person with the highest strength, offering endless power, unmatched strength, and the chance to become a bastion upon which the endless hordes of your foes will break like waves.
