One of the hardest things about being a werewolf is controlling yourself. Things are much simpler when you happen to also be a natural micro: your kobold friend can just drop you in a terrarium and keep you safely contained.

I get the hate, but you're right. They're incredibly useful for helping to dictate the flow of a sentence in prose and narration. Without them, it's extremely hard to have a tangentially related clause connect to a sentence like an aside and still feel connected to the rythem of what came before.
