Tubi seems to have removed The Blackcoat's Daughter, so tomorrow we will be watching LAMB (2021) instead. I'm so bummed! We were all looking forward to some Oz Perkins goodness.

But LAMB will also be an interesting one to talk about for #FolkHorrorFriday

Tomorrow night! Gather 'round the dinner table and spend some quality time with family for TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE (1974).

Worth it for the illustrations by @slipperyjack.bsky.social alone. The book is good too!

Another day, another inspiration behind CROSSROADS.

HWAET! is a folklore/folk horror zine out of Britain, but where HELLEBORE has a slightly more academic vibe, HWAET! is more playful, featuring music reviews, playlists, and bingo cards. The brainchild of George Parr and Bunty May Marshall.

Announcing this week's #FolkHorrorFriday watch: THE WIND (2018). We're going with something more contemporary but still undeniably American, a film about white settlers facing something menacing on the prairie.
September 24, 2025 at 3:21 AM
The equinox has me thinking about gratitude, so today, I'd like to share one of the inspirations behind CROSSROADS.

Most of you probably already know about HELLEBORE, a zine from the UK about folk horror and folk lore.

Join us for #FolkHorrorFriday at 9pm ET as we watch THE BROTHERHOOD OF SATAN (1971). American movies really took to satanic cults rather than pagan ones, yet many of the same themes and tropes are there.

As brutal as the depiction of the first attack is, the reality was somehow worse

The poster artwork is quite striking, so it's no surprise the artist did some other iconic film posters:

Gearing up for tonight's #FolkHorrorFriday watch, THE TOWN THAT DREADED SUNDOWN (1976) with some Wikipedia facts.
September 13, 2025 at 12:43 AM
A little late announcing this week's #FolkHorrorFriday, but we are continuing this month's theme of off-the-beaten-path folk horror (and folk adjacent) American movies from the 1970s with THE TOWN THAT DREADED SUNDOWN (1976), loosely based on a series of real-life murders in Texarkana.
