Again, you can’t answer my question, instead you insist on repeatedly misrepresenting everything I’ve said, while trying to restate your indefensible position to something entirely different.

Again: I’ll answer your question when you answer mine.
November 27, 2025 at 9:45 PM
So your evidence of my taking a position is by quoting yourself intentionally misrepresenting my question? That’s serious bad faith…
November 27, 2025 at 9:42 PM
Yeah you keep moving the goal post by reasserting your position, just as you’ve made your tone much less violent after I called you out on it.

But again I’ll answer your question when you answer mine.
November 27, 2025 at 9:41 PM
I mean clearly the word “cis” is derogatory to you, but you feel that if you label someone with that term it’s not ok for them to object.
November 27, 2025 at 9:39 PM
Please explain to me what “don’t call me cis,” energy is, I honestly have no idea.
November 27, 2025 at 9:36 PM
I’ll answer your question when you answer mine.
November 27, 2025 at 9:12 PM
I said nothing about your position on the term African American, I’m asking you your position. Go on? Answer the question.
November 27, 2025 at 9:11 PM
You are really intent on misrepresenting others, aren’t you? And of course you try to turn it into a situation in which you are the rational victim. The dialog however makes it clear you are increasingly violent and hateful in your language and your obfuscation.
November 27, 2025 at 9:10 PM
And of course it just comes down to cheap insults. It’s says far more about your intelligence than it does about mine.

Still waiting for you to explain the problem with the term “African American”.
November 27, 2025 at 8:49 PM
Really? Look at your increasingly violent and hateful language.
November 27, 2025 at 8:46 PM
Prescriptivist is someone saying what language should be and telling people how they must use language. You literally started by claiming the word America is synonymous with the Americas. It is not. I’m not advocating any language change.
November 27, 2025 at 8:44 PM
Yeah, except those pushing this nonsense are all coming from a place of privilege. It’s just another opportunity for you to silence and attack others.
November 27, 2025 at 8:42 PM
It’s literally the definition of prescriptivist. But again why do you think African Americans should not use that word if they choose?
November 27, 2025 at 8:37 PM
There’s no linguistic shift, I am describing the use of language. You are the one getting all upset and trying to make it about gender or race.
November 27, 2025 at 8:33 PM
Telling others what they can and can’t call them selves is an incredible act of arrogance and privilege.
November 27, 2025 at 8:30 PM
I’m not arguing Spanish, I’m arguing the English usage of the word. Though you should take this up whit Spanish textbooks because they ALL teach “yo soy Americano”
November 27, 2025 at 8:15 PM
And I’m not being defensive, I’m being descriptivist. I’m explaining to you how the language works. Your prescriptivist position is inherently conservative.
November 27, 2025 at 8:13 PM
It’s not about race, but of course you try to make it that way to give yourself some self righteous position. But tell me then where does the term “African American” come from, and what are you going to tell African Americans to call themselves instead?
November 27, 2025 at 8:11 PM
Exactly. You see the difference?
November 27, 2025 at 8:08 PM
Historical uses are not valid arguments for current usage.
November 27, 2025 at 6:48 PM
The problem with your argument is that when people hear the word America they think of the country. It doesn’t matter if in Portuguese it has a different meaning. The Americas are the continents, America is the country. It’s just how language works. It’s language not geography.
November 27, 2025 at 6:46 PM
You can also point out that 99% of the music they’ve produced in the last 70 or so years is sung in an American accent.
November 27, 2025 at 6:40 PM
And yet you need to whine about a language convention that is pretty universal, there is no linguistic shift, just a few pedants like yourself needing to feel persecuted because your failed neologism is being mocked.
November 27, 2025 at 6:39 PM
Canada is in North America, it’s in the Americas. The southern continent is called South America. Tell any Canadian they come from America, and they will correct you. This is how the language works. Words come to mean things based on shared understanding not prescribed ideas of geography.
November 27, 2025 at 6:34 PM
Which country in America? See how that sentence doesn’t even make any sense?
