I didn’t think I would enjoy this as much as I did! Unfortunately, I’m not familiar with many of the words + events of Afghanistan during this time, but I got the main points of the story. If you’re hesitant about this book, go in knowing nothing like I did, and give it a chance!

Read this for my family book club. Historical fiction is usually not my go-to genre, but I was pleasantly surprised with this book! For a middle school story, it is one filled with devastation of a real, horrific event. If you’re looking for a short book, this one is a good one.

This book is difficult to “rate” as it is obviously a true story. I did find Gypsy’s perspective of this story an important one to read, though I wish it went more chronologically. I have no authority to prove authenticity, but it seemed to be a good closure for her.

This was a cute read, and was my first enemies to lovers that I can recall reading. Definitely a different story trope for me, but enjoyed it nonetheless. I do feel like it ran a bit long, but it was still nice fluff. A good start to my reading year!

This was a cute read, and was my first enemies to lovers that I can recall reading. Definitely a different story trope for me, but enjoyed it nonetheless. I do feel like it ran a bit long, but it was still nice fluff. A good start to my reading year!
