Every time I hear that someone has “rizz” my immediate reaction is to picture Rizzo the rat in his letterman jacket and backwards hat, and then if I think whoever we’re talking about is at least as cool as that I go “yeah”

“If you live in a 15 minute city but your barista can’t afford to live there too, you don’t live in a 15 minute city, you live in a theme park.“
who creates the lively art and music scenes if the rent is too high? who makes cultural life? who serves you food or washes your dishes? who creates the fancy little restaurants that draw you to urban living? affordable housing is at the heart of what makes city life worthwhile.

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

I learned something today!
‘Nickname’ is not ‘nick’ + ‘name.’

It was originally ‘ekename.’

‘Eke’ was the Middle English word for “also” or “in addition.”

Since ‘ekename’ began with a vowel, people used ‘an’ before it.

Over time, 'an ekename' became 'a nickname.'

Jim Henson would've been 89 years old today. Commemorate his life and legacy by celebrating creativity, diversity, imagination, peace, and just plain silliness.

Walk with me a bit while I talk about Jim and his work--and leave your comments about what he means to you.

Right this way. /1

"The Bible tells us to love our neighbors, and also to love our enemies; probably because generally they are the same people."

- Chesterton, anticipating the modern term "frenemies."
A jolly and fat Franciscan friar, fulfilling a stereotype with his entire being, taught me moral theology. He used to say, “Love your neighbor. Your neighbor is person next to you in class, and the starving child in Africa. But especially the person next to you in class. They’re much harder to love”
Ooh, does "love your next" demand immediate proximity? There have been protestant priests in DK who proposed so🥶
