Shut up! I am too a floozy.
The travesty of an Oregonian article concealed that Willamette Week had actually broken the story thru the kind of hard, time-consuming, diligent legwork that reporters are supposed to do when uncovering the secrets of the powerful.

The O relied on Goldschmidt coming in to "confess" as a PR move.

Many ppl have said this in many diff ways, but this from Marissa MacWhirter may be the best, most succinct formulation.

The anti-trans line of attack allows men to dictate to women what feminism is, and who must be held accountable.

SPOILER: They won't hold accountable the men with power.

I don't know if this is accidental or genius from Marissa MacWhirter:

"It seems like a deliberate distraction to shift the focus away from the systemic mistreatment and abuse of women. All they have done is build trans people up as a STRAW MAN..."

(emphasis mine)

Since we're talking bout breast cancer, it's a good time to remind people what Cedars-Sinai says:

"It's a great opportunity to think about breasts and how they span the gender spectrum. When it comes to screening, we screen what you've got."

So think about breasts and get screened.

Also, too:

Pamela Paul in the WSJ:
"For their part, trans advocates argue that trans women can also be lesbians and that it is lesbians who are being exclusionary."

WTF? No. Trans ppl are saying that lesbians, by and large, are incredibly supportive and that SOME JACKASSES are exclusionary.

Max Tani in Harpers.

What is completely bonkers is that it is, in fact, the media's job to do exactly this. And they know it.

To take an extreme example, suppose the police provide a profile of a serial killer. Should the media say, "Bruce Jenkins fits the profile. The killer could be Bruce"?

@barackobama.bsky.social has a mostly positive message here. but I want to talk about where it falls down. Not to hate on Obama, but bc if we really want a big tent, if we really want everyone to vote together, we're going to have to do better.

Now, now, @spindlypete.bsky.social , I'm no longer young enough to be called a "kid." The rest of it is probably fair, I guess.

Honestly this is the moment I've trained for. All of human civ rests on my skill with wordplay and what I've learned from Marcel Marceau about escaping invisible boxes.

Preface to a thread:.

1. Voting 4 fascists is bad.

2. If you voted for fascists you should feel bad.

3. If they want to vote against Trump bc they feel hurt, that's not a change in fascism, that's a change in enemy.

4. It's not the job of the ppl the fascists hurt to heal the fascists' wounds.

Love the sentiment & agree w almost all of the specific wording, but it's always weird to me, someone 50+ yrs old who has lived in the US 40+ of that, when ppl tell me hating minorities is un-American.

One hand wants to say, "I love you!" The other thinks we'll never solve anything w/o honesty.

Love Moira, but I think it's important to note that this UNDERSELLS the prob.

I think ppl (not Moira, but maybe some readers) forget that "Trans Panic" has been used for decades to legalize anti-trans murder.

To say this is "going to be used" is true, but it's being used now & has been forever.

Thirdly, "the GOP is not a class of people," you say.

But the definition of "class" says that they are. They are a group that has membership in the Republican Party in common, and moreover, they are "regarded" as having other traits in common, a preference for conservatism for one.

2/3: Eric Blair, writing as George Orwell, described this type of thinking. He was not praising it.

The Democratic Party is not an anti-fascist party. It would be best to describe it as non-fascist, I should think. While some will point to fascistic statements others will point to Pritzker, et al.
