It appears they are filming Game of Thrones in Chicago. This morning's sunrise hitting the skyline.

It’s a fun joke, but also I got to shoot a yew longbow this autumn and I just fell in love with it and need to figure out when I can get my own. Maybe…maybe next year’s event?
It's a longshot people will get this joke

Nerdy co-parking always amuses me. I don’t know whose this is but they have the same basic model from one of the same few years. I think they have the Limited trim though, and I only got the middle level SEL. Still.

christmas has gotten so far from its religious roots, wish we could celebrate our holidays like medieval christians (cross-dressing, being told by the bishop to stop cross-dressing, resolutely refusing to stop cross-dressing, threatening the bishop in defense of cross-dressing)

It is an absolutely delightful irony that the richest man in the world is universally acknowledged to be a huge fucking loser who not a single living person envies in any way at all
Remember folks: if you have any small amount of artistic talent, any sex appeal, or can make your friends laugh, the richest man on earth is crying screaming throwing up because he can’t be you.

Definitely some pieces in the art show and a few items out on the dealer floor that I would have been very interested in if I wasn’t heavily constraining purchases in favor of funding another training trip to Japan in summer. I got a few very small things but, that’ll be it this year.

I gotta say too that Pirate Artisans make great stuff and are very passionate about their work and lovely folks to chat with. It is a highlight of wandering a dealers room to get to stop and chat with them and see what cool things they have. I have a couple rings & a wolf skull pendant that I love.
Shocked that she is still available for purchase! Easily my most beautiful work, and the whole reason I am the artist that I am! It's impossible to show how pretty she is in photos and video. She's only $300, and she can be yours!

Maybe the third year of bringing the tools to do a good coffee in my room and having some stuff for breakfast (often my croissants) and some OJ in the cooler, and man it’s a relief to avoid the coffee lines and not be spending $20-odd bucks a day just to get started… and mine is better.

Once again I managed to get all the mail in art into my car in one go… just no passengers allowed.

Honestly have reached a point with the community and the department I’m in this year and my own states that I don’t really want to be at the con. Some of that is just me being tired from a day of baking and a busy year and only really seeing the stressors right now. But man. Sometimes it’s too much.

A lot of people expressing shock that bayonets were being used for crowd control in 1966

A little background

Until the late ‘60s, soldiers were not equipped or trained for riot duty. They used weapons of war for policing

In Detroit alone in ‘67, troops fired 156,000 rounds of ammunition
“Hey, why do we do risk analysis for home station unit training?”

This composition had eluded me for nearly a decade, but yesterday I was finally able to capture it. A train rolled through just as the Duquesne Incline was crossing over the tracks in #Pittsburgh, creating a picture perfect winter scene. It was worth the hours and hours I've waited over the years.

I'll say it again -- I'm on my firm's AI committee: every canned demo has had brutal, malpractice-level errors, and every live trial has required more time and care to vet the output than to just do it, like working with an unteachably incompetent associate you'd need to sit down for a Hard Talk.
