Californian who thinks being called woke is a compliment.

Never be so kind you forget to be clever.
Never be so clever you forget to be kind.
Except to fascists and nazis. Fuck those guys.

Changing to Blackout Mode soon.
Tomorrow, February 28, let’s disrupt the status quo by spending ONLY at businesses that uplift our communities.

That means:
🚫 No gas from corporate giants
🚫 No fast food chains
🚫 No big-box retailers (Target, Walmart, Amazon, etc.)

So - I've actually led Ebola outbreak response at USAID.

This is bunk from Elon. They have laid off most of the experts, they're bankrupting most of the partner orgs, have withdrawn from WHO, and muzzled CDC.

What's left is a fig-leaf effort to cover their asses politically.
Elon Musk: "We will make mistakes. We won't be perfect ... so for example, with USAID, one of the things we accidentally canceled very briefly was ebola prevention."

This is a gut-wrenching, beautifully written essay. A doctor must watch helplessly as children die because USAID's freeze on aid has limited access to nutritional supplements. time.com/7258248/us-f...

“To my patients and their mothers, I offered apologies from the American people,” writes Dr. Jennifer Furin.

Art at the Kennedy Center is about to be mayonnaise. Can’t wait for the Honors to go to only artists who agree to let FOTUS use their songs.
Just got this press release. Beyond dystopian.

Even though Rubio promised life-saving aid wouldn't be interrupted, it has essentially been halted worldwide, interrupting HIV and TB treatment and threatening millions of lives. People are dying today because of these chaotic, inconsistent stop work orders. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/12/u...
USAID Lifesaving Aid Remains Halted Despite Rubio’s Promise
A new directive puts further exemptions on hold. Aid workers also say the U.S. government has made it impossible to pay partners around the world.

Arguing with a relative and when I provide reporting from Forbes or Newsweek, I’m told that is not trustworthy enough to counter a social media post that says: DOGE confirms. He wants to know how I got so blinded.

When I was a Hill staffer in 2009, a Dem trifecta was trying to pass universal healthcare. In response, Senate GOP released a memo detailing all of the tactics they in the minority could use to delay the effort as much as possible. I'm recirculating that 2009 GOP memo here. Take inspiration from it.

Just had to assure a twelfth grader that it was going to be okay and that she’ll be able to get money for college from FAFSA.
But, will she? I legit don’t even know.

I think this was my first trip to Disneyland. Based on my size and lack of brother, this was probably late 1979 or early 1980.

Bluesky, I am begging you to take me out of the algorithm that shows me close-up photos of weird looking [insert word for growing organism that people put on pizza]. I don’t like them.

I was expecting lots of Chinese culture I’m unfamiliar with on Xiaohongshu. I was not expecting to see pets I’ve never seen. One woman had one of these in her living room. Google says this is a red squirrel.

I talked to some high schoolers tonight about joining Bluesky now that TikTok is dead. I enticed them with the hope that Flashes is coming soon and hopefully if there are codes to join the beta, they’d be available on here.

Doom scrolling has never been more apt a description than today when I’m desperately scrolling to find all the TikTokers I like on other apps.
