And it's bare, surface-level criticism. Nobody doing this has to actually engage with what they're criticizing, it's never about how well those themes or characters are done, just that they exist. It's intellectually lazy, but it's just aesthetics they can point to without engaging any deeper.

Had the weirdest encounter at the gas station today but every time I tell a different coworker about it they bring up how maybe the person wanted to kidnap me and its making me feel like the crazy one because I don’t assume every person catcalling me and trying to get my attention is a kidnapper
