Happy Birthday to former #Cubs closer Lee Smith. Lee played 18 seasons. He was a dominant closer and held the MLB career saves record (478) from 1993 until 2006. He was a seven-time All-Star and was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2019. Happy Birthday Lee!

Added this George Altman autographed baseball with 2 X All Star and Chicago #Cubs inscription. Altman recently passed away last week at the age of 92. George was one of just three people ever to play in the Negro Leagues, AL/NL and Nippon Professional Baseball.

It was #OTD in 2003 that the Cubs sent 1st baseman Hee Seop Choi and minor league pitcher Mike Nenini to the Marlins in one of the all time great #Cubs trades. Lee played 7 seasons with the Cubs, earning 2 All-Star selections (2005, 2007), 2 Gold Gloves(2005 and 2007), a Silver Slugger Award (2005)

ICYMI-@MLB announced their all first team and second teams. The #Cubs had no players on the first team, no problem with that. PCA was named to the second team, but what pissed me off is Brice Turang getting the nod over Nico Hoerner. Getting real tired of the Nico disrespect

It was #OTD in 1984 that Ryne Sandberg was named the NL MVP. Ryno finished the season with a .314 batting average, 19 triples, 19 home runs, 84 RBI, and an NL-best 114 runs scored, won the Gold Glove and Silver Slugger awards, was named to the All Star team, and led his team to the postseason
