Aurora alerts on and off in the early hours so 'just in case' I went up Glastonbury Tor. The aurora wasn't to be but still nice being up there when it is so quiet.

One of my all time favorite films!
A repost for #WyrdWednesday
C is for ‘Carnival of Souls’ in my #folkhorroralphabet released in 1962 and directed by Herk Harvey. It’s a low budget cult classic, unsettling period Americana that inspired directors like David Lynch and George Romero.

He'd left without her.
Alisa Williams creates scenes that feel like they’ve come from a dream or an old memory. Her compositions evoke nostalgia, femininity, and quiet stories where time seems suspended. With a sensitive eye, she transforms everyday moments into visual poetry. 🩶

Spent the weekend at my studio working on the "unexpected night visitor" painting. Showing the steps of a work-in-progress may diminish the impact ...but this is social media, so the impact is already diminished...(3 images: the underpainting, the charcoal sketch layout, and the painting half-done)

ha ha. lovely and mean.
pre-writing a devastating obituary for your enemy is god-tier hating of a kind you don’t often see anymore. renaissance haterism. beautiful stuff.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

Once I have finished a large painting, which I work on stapled to a flat wall. I then have to mount it. In this case on a wooden canvas stretcher frame, which I have to assemble. Then the painted linen canvas has to be stretched over the frame (painted canvas is a bitch to stretch). then varnished.
