I started two new books yesterday:

Audio: The Rose Field by Philip Pullman (book 3 in The Book of Dust trilogy)

Physical: Project Hanuman by Stewart Hotston

Starting Project Hanuman by @stewarthotston.com

Just four chapters in and this already feels very different. I'm intrigued.

"What are we if not stories we have been told, and stories we tell ourselves?"

A delicate blend of folklore and speculative fiction - exploring themes of xenophobia, grief, forgiveness, and recovery - tenderly threaded with fragile strands of hope.

Beautifully crafted by @rainewilson.bsky.social

Started We Are All Ghosts in the Forest by @rainewilson.bsky.social

Already a third of the way in and very much intrigued by the story.

I've read 24 books by @aptshadow.bsky.social since September 2023 when I started my journey, with Children of Time on my way home from FantasyCon.

It's the most books I've read by one author, and not even 50% of his work!

Anyway, here are four of my personal favourites.

Kicking off my October reading with these:

📖 Dark Sands by J. S. Harman🎧 Vampires of El Norte by @isabelcanas.bsky.social

House of Open Wounds by @aptshadow.bsky.social is superb.

I had so much fun with this one. Phenomenal world building as one would expect from this author, but it's the characters who steal the show here.
A wonderful cast of memorable characters, full of heart, humour, and mayhem.

Just brilliant!

A must read:

The Earthseed duology by Octavia E Butler is powerful, prescient, and poignant.

I often think about these books.
