THE FEELING WHEN you see that you might have to do more than the bare minimum in order to hold the line.

It's not lost yet. Keep it up!

Fun fact: when you are an actual dictator your approval rating can drop to 0.1% and nothing happens. You are still dictator
Is this bad? Looks bad to me

Algebra isn't just a tool for solving maths equations. It's the study of operations that can be applied to formal structures, and the laws they follow.

Logical statements and proofs are themselves formal structures with such operations.

An excellent introduction to it:

An important part of arresting the consolidation of authoritarianism is convincing corporations and institutions that Trump will eventually be out of power and at that point they’ll face consequences for their actions and by that standard this is a good sign
Jamie Dimon says JPM hasn't given to the ballroom because "anything we do, since we do a lot of contracts with governments here and around the world, we have to be very careful about how anything is perceived." Adds "And also how the next DOJ is going to deal with."

Pfft, who needs artistic satisfaction when you have dopamine?

Wait, we *have* established those are two different drugs, right?

...Right?

#TIL there's a word "kusogē" and it has a meaning.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kusoge
'Ikki' released for Famicom on this day in 1985.

Classically recognized as the first game to be called a "kusogē." This bad reputation though is perhaps a tad bit overblown, as the game is a relatively fine arcade conversion for the time (save for a truly awful camera).

I published my #NaNoGenMo entry today, and got the coveted green "completed" label.

I learned some #Rust.

I worked out my ideas on parse tree rewriting.

I only implemented a toy example. Implementing all the ideas *while* learning a new language would've been too much.

To each their own, of course: the "fingerprints of its creator" is not at all what makes a work of art beautiful to me.

A work by Sophie Tauber-Arp (or anyone else) is beautiful because of its composition&execution, not because it's by Sophie Tauber-Arp (or anyone else).

Just my opinion of course.
I love how every artist has a different style that's wholly and uniquely them. even if ppl draw in the same general style, there's still just ✨something✨ about it that has the fingerprints of its creator and I think that's part of what makes art so beautiful

A mystic is free to locate love outside the existential maze. A materialist has no such luxury.

But even if you're forced to admit that love is a drug, not essentially different from any other drug - you can still hold the opinion that love is the *best* drug.

idk but I'm a lot less worried about the USA now than I was in the summer.

The administration'll still do everything it can (deny, bully, lie, cheat, etc) to cling to power. So people still need to be prepared for that.

But it feels like they're on the back foot now.

He knows it's all falling apart. This is a clear reaction to that. He's going to be lashing out more and more as things get worse and worse for him. As I said in a previous post, it's called an 'extinction burst'...and it's happening now in real time.

I couldn't figure this one out until I translated it to:

"You wouldn't say it's elitist to read the spec of the programming language you claim to be a programmer of"

And I don't know if I've heard those actual *words*, but I believe I have been in the presence of that attitude more than once
I sympathise with the frustration at a certain flavour of TTRPG fans claiming it's elitist to learn the rules of the game you're playing, but I have to laugh at analogies like "you wouldn't say it's elitist to watch a TV show you claim to be a fan of"; people in TV show fandoms 100% do say that.

Others turn their attention to questions like, what does it mean to be the BEST artist. What does that even mean
I think most artists hit a point where they’re like, well if I can’t be the best artist, I shall be the most ME artist.
