We're definitely in a post-covid era of solo gaming. It's much more standard to add solo rules.

It is interesting though, and might or might not be nostalgia-driven.
Anectodtally as I get older I have less and less time for the oh so dark, gritty and overserious tone of more western-inspired media in general.
The real world is gritty enough.
