(I did derive the time dilation and length contraction equations in high school and in college - and they're also derived in that book - but that's more of an explanation of how you would discover the effects of relativity have to be true, not why they actually are true)

To be exact he says that as you move faster through space, you have to move slower through time to balance out and conserve the overall spacetime. I thought that was the only coherent explanation of it I'd ever heard but had a vague suspicion it was just a metaphor until now

When I was in high school I read brian cox's book 'why does e = mc^2?', about special relativity, and always remembered the brief, throwaway explanation of why time dilation happens in layman's terms, but wasn't sure whether it was actually literally true. studying GR math, it is

I know I could be wrong and this could be a Mein Kampf situation of him clearly laying out all his plans and *still* not thinking they'll actually happen, but also his first term was so incompetent and full of flashy policies that straight up didn't work has left me extremely unconvinced

Like, obviously you still shouldn't vote for him but I've seen people dooming on the TL like 'if Trump wins he will deport 1 in 12 Americans, abolish income tax, and invade Mexico' and like. He's not going to do any of that, he literally just says shit

When I did my undergrad thesis project on gaia data I was so used to terrible acronyms I kept accidentally writing GAIA and had to correct it lmao
