I saw someone do that for fine hair strands recently and it blew me away and I want to use it more. It's also pretty good for ribbons/bandages and tails. I'll tend to go over it for the final though for varying line weight.

I perceive her form more easily given the scapular shading in version B. I think the lack of gleam on the left scapula also seems more consistent with the direction of the light.
