Kinda hoping Twitter rallies, but just in case...
Suggest doing something that's

-Immediate/local/visceral
-Makes you feel good

The archetypal thing for me is to go sit with Sarah The Pug and scratch her ears.

This doesn't change the bigger stuff at all, but it's a valid reminder that the bigger stuff isn't all there is.

Pic on the left is a pretty sunset from my backyard, but it's old- I stumbled across it the other day.

Pic on the right is Sarah licking my head an ~hour ago. She is not a cat but she is plausibly cat-adjacent.

There's this one line in The Northern Caves, where

hold on actually, it'll be faster if I just look it up

(looks)

This! I read this and thought "wow that's *precisely* the vibe I'm going for when I send Cass meticulously arranged babbling absurdities. I haven't ever seen it described before!"

(I've been doing this for most of our lives, and sending them as emails since before anyone in our family had a smartphone, and I like in-jokes and worldbuilding, so by now there's actually a pretty intricate continuity built up and by default I'm fastidious about maintaining it.

Oh hey I did this joke once, sort of!

Usually when I send my sister stuff like this, (which I do a lot), there's context that makes it funnier.

Not *saner* necessarily, just funnier(1).

But in this case, not so much? This one was mostly a standalone, was using it as kind of a pallette cleanser.

(Oh, Morph is here! Like, active-here. That's an extraordinarily good sign!)

(Since I can nope out of a bad interaction with a flick of my thumb, having higher variance should theoretically be exploitable here?)

Oh, this is fun.

No, more options are much better! Abundance rules! Thanks so much, I might actually start with this one. Hard to picture Iomedae as a teenager, at least if you only know her from planecrash. Exploring that seems like it'd be interesting!

Thanks again for this! I kinda got distracted and wandered off to read other stuff, coming back to this now and, looking over a list of neat planecrash stuff trying to decide what to read first is a pretty great feeling.

I found it kinda nice- going down a big list of people I'm happy I get to know is a very pleasant exercise in the right headspace. :)
July 2, 2023 at 11:03 AM
Thanks, that helps a lot!
June 4, 2023 at 10:53 AM
Hitting you up for advice, feel free to ignore this: what should I read after Planecrash? I have the impression there's other good Glowfic, but I want something that won't feel like a letdown after that. (Tall order, I know.)

Realistically, this content is why I opened the Bluesky app.

Not knocking it, but the actual impetus that got me over the trivial inconvenience was "Huh, Tetra hasn't tweeted much lately- oh, right!"

I just thumb back to twitter. Or DataSecretsLox, they're less chill than my part of twitter.

Still, kinda know what you mean.

I always liked that song. It's clearly a joke, it shouldn't still be funny twenty years and dozens of listens later.

And yet.

I hadn't heard about this! I like threads, so people who shun people who do threads will probably shun me eventually and I should go ahead and regard that as priced-in.
April 11, 2023 at 11:35 PM
I just say what I think to other people who've seemed to like that before, and it all works out from there.

If you haven't identified people like that, try saying it to people you like listening to? That's often mutual imo.
April 11, 2023 at 11:34 PM
Yeah, I did! Sorry, blanked on that somehow.
