Yeah, water has gotten a lot better. Diffused lighting with unexpected dull spots/softening/glinting still seems to be the hardest thing if you arent spending the time on it. Feels like most ML seems perfectly lit due to being less expensive, which leads to the valley.

I had a friend who worked in CGI for film and he said three things that always end up in the uncanny valley is water, wind on tall grass, and lighting. Machines can approximate it, but never get there. Its the only thing I can ever focus on from ML imagery.

In general, my theory that Journalism school is for people that want celebrity but are generally untalented has yet to be disproven.
