PS1 games do not use OPL or Neutrino, they use POPStarter. There are patches for many PS1 games, including Xenogears here: www.psx-place.com/threads/hugo...

Just place the relevant .BIN files in the games VMC folder, you'll find it in __common/POPS. That should resolve the issue.

I wouldn't recommend running the extras.sh script or any of the other scripts directly as it bypassed the dependency checks and skips auto-updates

You can open an issue on GitHub and include the extras.log, perhaps that will shed some light on the situation but it seems to be isolated to your setup

I honestly have no clue what is going on. The script checks the listing from HDL Dump. When I run the script, it works for me.

I can't see any cause for this error other than your drive actually being corrupt. To confirm run the following command from the PSBBN-Definitive-English-Patch folder:
sudo "./scripts/helper/HDL Dump.elf" toc /dev/sbd

I don't recommend running the scripts directly from the scripts folder as they don't check for missing dependencies or automatically update. Always run PSBBN-Definitive-Patch.sh.

You cannot use PFS batchkit manager with this project, it is not compatible.

So if you select "Install games and apps" from the main menu, you don't get the same APA corrupt error? Have you tried doing that after receiving the error from the extra script?
November 19, 2025 at 2:32 PM
If it says APA partitions are broken then that usually means they are broken. Do you get the same error when running the game installer?

There are tools for the PC to mount APA partitions but it would be far simpler to put the fixes on a USD drive and use wLaunchELF.

If you are experiencing this problem, please open an issue on the GitHub page. I've got an update for you to download and try. I'm not able to share it here.

Did reinstalling help? If not, can you tell me more about your hardware? What model is your console?
Are you using a HDD or SSD?
If using a SATA mod, what is the make and model?

If you’re experiencing issues launching PS1 games after updating to v4, re-run the game installer. A fix has just been pushed.

That's okay, this project has so many moving parts that the readme is now almost 1000 lines!

It's also worth reading the "PlayStation BB Guide" that's built into PSBBN. A lot of time and effort was put into translating it and you're bound to find out something you don't already know.

To display games in OPL, you need to adjust the OPL settings. Details can be found in the readme.
November 15, 2025 at 2:30 PM
The screen setting is for games only, not PSBBN. Most games do not even use that setting, instead having the wide-screen option in the game's menu. Saying that, you can force the setting either in OPL by modifying the OSD settings or modifying the OSDMBR.CFG config file.

It's definitely worth looking at the full release notes. Many other little improvements not mentioned in the video github.com/CosmicScale/...

I can’t overstate how difficult it was to reverse-engineer Sony’s MBR program. Big props to pcm720!

Good news: The video is ready.
Bad news: The update isn’t. Still bug testing and fixing with pcm720.

Not surprising. I only tested with English characters and only designed it with English characters in mind.
October 4, 2025 at 2:20 PM
That won't be the issue. I'm guessing you installed more than 4 albums. During testing the music update I noticed that PSBBN can have issues reading files past the 3 GB mark. Hope to get a fix for that out soon.
