The other week, I caught an Amtrak train running crew qualifications/familiarization during a crew change at the future Mobile, AL station site. So excited for the Mardi Gras Service to finally begin!

Continuing my amateur coverage of the construction of the Amtrak platform in Mobile, today I spotted construction crews demolishing a portion of the L&N platform that Amtrak used until 2005. This is being done to clear space for track to be laid beside the new platform.

I've been following the progress of Amtrak coming back to Mobile for months, and yesterday, I got the welcome surprise of a locomotive doing some test runs appearing next to the station site just as construction crews were bringing in equipment! It was the first passenger loco I've ever seen!
