I really wish that across the US and Canada the average person would finally have it click that demonizing international students is a defunding tactic. Just a defunding tactic. Not about security. Not about housing or jobs. It's defunding universities and ideologically "unpalatable" research.
Prohibited activities include advising Chinese graduate students. For reference, a recent Georgetown report estimated 16% of STEM graduate students in the US are Chinese nationals.

This would take out entire fields at the knees, which is perhaps the point.
“The prohibited activities would include joint research, co-authorship on papers, and advising a foreign graduate student or postdoctoral fellow. The language is retroactive, meaning any interactions during the previous 5 years could make a scientist ineligible for future federal funding.”

i’m proud to have studied and worked with many chinese public health scientists over the years. this red scare bullshit is unjust, bigoted, and utterly self-destructive
The only way we will win a better world is not only leftism for America, but internationalism. “Researchers who have anything to do with China should have their careers ended” is a bipartisan position, and it can’t be anymore. If we live in a fragmented world, it will burn in our lifetime

Sinophobia is disgustingly rampant. Myth making about CCP "control" of scientists is detached from the reality of what it's like to work in science. We learned nothing from COVID, apparently. Barring international data sharing for the sake of McCarthyism only hurts global science.

This is the end of science in the US it is a MASSIVE crackdown an literally everyone this racist bullshit would stop basically all science in its tracks and allow the administration to deny funding to basically whoever they wanted to

Moreover, ICE must be destroyed

Protest #KsiLisims and #PRGT. This is not a "nation building project," but rather owned by US MAGA shitlords that are using our taxes and the #LPC compliance to ram through this toxic project through Indigenous land.

Every single far left commentator, anarchist or socialist, I have listened to over the past year has predicted this. That the next step would be defending or downplaying Epstein and his crimes. And here we are.
This was always where this was headed.
Megyn Kelly: "I know somebody very close to this case…Jeffrey Epstein, in this person's view, was not a pedophile…He was into the barely legal type, like he liked 15 year old girls…He wasn't into like 8 year olds…There's a difference between a 15 year old and a 5 year old."

When Covid caused NYC offices to hollow out what they found was that yeah the core business districts suffered but the neighborhoods where people actually live, thrived.

All WFH means is rethinking business districts, not cities.
if you cant go in to the office 3 days a week then you really can't complain when cities are hollowed out. cities are places where ppl work and network. getting rid of that makes cities useless
And it's usually something like "but that's not what the literal DNC does!" as if I don't know, as someone who has worked on Dem campaigns, sometimes in conjunction with the DNC what they do. So I'm going to be very specific here: this is the DNC being shitty: www.nytimes.com/2025/11/12/u...

The #LPC is selling these "mega infrastructure projects" as some kind of "nation building" New Deal venture when it's anything but. This is only funneling billions of Canadian funds, at the expense of public services, into the hands of US capital.
Mark Carney is about to announce more of his “elbows up” major projects.

But under the surface, one that’s being sold as an Indigenous-led LNG project is actually — spoiler — American as hell.

That’s not even the worst part!

The move comes after Microsoft revoked ICC head Karim Khan’s email access when he was sanctioned by the US for the warrant against Netanyahu.

Huge scoop from Ed, who had several years of financial reports leaked to him. OpenAI has been over-reporting their revenue. The company is even less profitable than we knew.
Exclusive: Based on documents viewed by this newsletter, OpenAI spent over $12.4 billion on inference from 2024 to September 2025. As part of its Microsoft revenue share, it sent $493.8m in 2024/$865.8m Jan-Sep 2025, implying lower revenues than previously reported.

Friendly reminder that dishwashers made after 1995 or so are so water and energy efficient that even if you ran them twice fully loaded it would still use less water than handwashing the same load.

So many "green" things feel like sacrifices. Dishwashers are not one of them.

As I get older, the funnier it gets that right wing propaganda keeps trying to smear even the mildest of left wing politics as the fantasy of "young kids" that just don't know how the real world works yet. Meanwhile, right wing politics hasn't made my life better in any way my entire adult life.
The only thing to like about this right wing drivel is that Green members like myself are addressed as "kids."

I'm 73, so I'd be flattered, if not for the source.
