Canada and the Netherlands have had a special bond since WWII Canadian troops liberated the starving residents there after D-Day. When I visited Brugge in Belgium, I was told the same thing about their area.

That’s a Canada 150 Tulip - a gift from the Netherlands to Canada in 2017 for the 150th Anniversary of Canadian Confederation. It was bred to look like our red and white flag. 🇨🇦
