A penetration tester living in Scotland.

I am also into video games, home recording music, guitars, sci-fi, the concept of Scotland getting an independence vote again, and nachos. I like nachos.
Living what I call "the sickness". A pentest with basically a *. domain scope. Thousands of apps to find and test.

The work day has been so fun that I don't notice the sun going and it suddenly becomes midnight.

This is what we trained for! This is the secret sauce. This is the sickness.

Seconded.
A staycation is spending your holiday in your own home and visiting places. A vacation is staying away from home even if it is in the same country. I will die on this hill.

Fascinating tale of how Steve Guttenberg clearly social engineered his way into Paramount Pictures and eventually got himself hired.

He built himself an office and used it for THREE YEARS

www.youtube.com/watch?v=8a1y...
WTF! Steve Guttenberg snuck onto the Paramount lot & created a fake office for 3 years!

My kid and I are replaying #hollowKnight ahead of possibly buying #Silksong soon.

They have blown me away with this epic gif they made!

I just assume that this fess is about me spamming everyone with part made songs a lot of the time.
My friend has recorded some songs. He's spent months working on them and recently sent me copies to critique. I've told him they are good and wished him good luck but honestly they are fucking awful.

Now that MITRE is defunded I wonder how the next generation will brag about things they found now that the CVE project (the centralised vulnerability leaderboard) looks dead.

Sorry to anyone losing their jobs over this. We will enter vendor led split market for this and that is not good.

People lament the loss of the "old internet" and whinge about crappy monolithic spaces, but when they look for alternatives, they all fuck off to near identical platforms. It's because they're addicted to follower counts and are too cowardly to admit it and find a smaller space.

Good morning.

Feel like the world is going to shit in some way?

Well this is not the thread to discuss any of that. I would like you to reply with photos of trees growing new leaves, or dogs.

Both just optimistically getting on with their days showing us how to roll.

Thanks.

Thought experiment:

A tool called "timechains" which lets you RDP onto a server existing in the year 2010. It will run continuously with minimum down time for patching etc until it was retired in 2020.

What are you doing through your timechains server?

Was just gifted a collection of tea cups like Picard used in TNG. I wouldn't have bought them but by science I love them!

As penetration testers we cannot usually brazenly post about what our day is going to look like. Well today I will be picking up CRTO studying for the first time in a while.

Quite happy about a little time at the firing range.

Anyone else have a stress dream where they are tasked with fixing up COBOL powering banking infrastructure in the future as the last human to have ever seen COBOL before?

My exposure was once seeing it in a mirror.

Raring to go for 2025? This is the day many (including myself) return to work.

In every single way I needed that 2 weeks to sit and do nothing.

Customer called up to say "Probably the best pentest we have ever seen" regarding a report I delivered recently.

Nice to hear but I think it makes me the Carlsberg of pentesting.

If we count home alone as the home tie, and home alone 2 as the away. Then we have to give it to Kevin as a 2-0 aggregate win over the wet bandits.

I have cranked out a reasonable amount of exercise this weekend. Hoping for a good sleep to keep me ready for the week ahead.

If I sleep poorly then panic attacks can be a thing. Just a reminder that you need to keep at maintenance or something makes you lie down.
