I couldn’t march on Saturday. I’m working on a boat in Alaska. I was moved by Gavin Newsom‘s words, urging us to resist in whatever form it takes or we can. Somehow it compelled me to finish this hard piece to write; to honor my friend Jesús, and so many others.

I’ve spent most of the winter, probably like most of us wondering WTF we do now. It ranges from the largest, collective, existential sense to the smallest day-to-day right at this minute, what the heck can I do to balance the shock and sadness with day-to-day life?
