Oh hey you! Welcome to my little corner. ☺️

I’ve been a little obsessed with Starling murmurations, so you’ll probably see a lot of posts about that. But I’m also going to try to share glimpses into my life, bc I’m working on being more vulnerable and building meaningful connections. 🫶
A detail from a new Starling painting.

Fun fact: 🐦‍⬛ First brought to North America by Shakespeare enthusiasts in the nineteenth century, European Starlings are now among the continent’s most numerous songbirds.

Meet Lorna Simpson (b. 1960), a trailblazing African-American photographer & multimedia artist. As the first Black woman to exhibit at the Venice Biennale (1990), her work explores race, gender, & identity through photography, video, & sculpture. #LornaSimpson

Two new paintings have been juried into a group exhibition. 🎉

The artists, all members of @alwca.bsky.social, were asked to consider what images they could think of and create that depict tranquil places or states of mind to reflect on hope, loss, love, or growth.

We seek works reflecting personal and collective issues, capturing this era’s intricate emotions and resilience. This exhibition is a testament to the validity of our perspectives and celebrates our ingenuity in overcoming adversity.

Titled “From Within,” this painting celebrates my journey of being vulnerable. Vulnerability is often thought of as weakness. On the contrary, to be open and honest about struggles, fears, even dreams takes courage. Being vulnerable encourages vulnerability in return, sparking deeper connections.

Last night I watched “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty,” featuring Ben Stiller. Great movie about living life to the fullest, not just daydreaming about it. There’s also a Murmuration scene. 😁🐦‍⬛ I’d recommend watching! 🎬
