I’m currently aware of efforts in Colorado — and am personally involved in the early stages of one of them — that seek to make more sense of this landscape in our state. I hope such efforts can wind up having some influence of their own. Watch the newsletter for more on that front down the line.

According to the PEW Research Center, one-in-five U.S. adults say they are regularly getting news from news influencers on social media. (The organization defined the term as “individuals who have a large following on social media and often post about news or political or social issues.”)

“I think less and less we’re seeing these kinds of creators be transparent about what they’re doing and whether it’s journalism, how close it is to journalism, or whether it’s some other form of communication like sponsored content, propaganda, advertising.”
