Yeah, copper gets a high price as scrap, so it’s not uncommon for people to steal wires and plumbing.

I am also leery of these adaptations, but I have seen this one and it’s surprisingly fun! They clearly resolved to make the absolute biggest possible choice at every moment, and it’s the right move for the source material.
