I saw no police presence in my city. Everyone was friendly, focused and politely marched with their signs. There were many thousands of protesters and we all sang America the Beautiful together on the grounds of the Capitol. It was somehow calming TBH.

They are broken people running from the sins of their past and they are unable to truly accept forgiveness from the God they profess to believe in. I personally know a number of them and the above description applies to every single one of them. I have a few in my family.
