Huis ter Heide is probably my favorite local hiking spot. It has a diverse scenery, lots of highland cows and is just a 15 minute drive away.

You can come across these Highland cows in many places in the Netherlands. They're tagged and have an owner, but they roam free as natures lawnmowers so to speak.
