(Cool really is my last name.) Curious folk just trying to love Jesus and people (Mark 12:29-31). Doing it so imperfectly. Micah 6:8. Writer. Speaker. www.carolcool.com
“Your princes plot conspiracies just as lions stalk their prey. They devour innocent people, seizing treasures and extorting wealth. They make many widows in the land. Your leaders are like wolves who tear apart their victims. They actually destroy people’s lives for money!”

You certainly can hold onto both the joy and the grief. It is the human experience.

Whether we are talking gratitude at Thanksgiving or joy at Christmas, hold on to it alongside your grief.

On the inside (before it was inside me):

And yes, the Corelleware plates are 46 years old—you’ll have to pry them out of my cold, dead hands.

Living only on sourdough bread for the last 3 days.

Okay, also includes butter, jam, cheese and pesto (but not all on the same slice)

Amazing saganaki appetizer at Kephi in Williamsburg, Virginia. Truly, I’ve never met a fried or grilled cheese I don’t love.

Thought you might want to see this bonsai pomegranate (from Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania)!

What’s a romcom you feel was under-viewed and undervalued? #romcom #movie #hiddengem

I’ll choose Music and Lyrics—Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore, with fun supporting turns from Brad Garrett and Kristen Johnston.

I love that one!! I uses to enjoy super-intense puzzles before the world became so hard. Now I want fun ones that challenge but are fun and have happy themes. Here’s a recent 1,000-piecer (hubs trying to get a taste):

What was the last historical site you visited—and how long ago?

I’m in a Facebook group for Colonial Williamsburg fans, and there are complaints about additional costs and the reduction of services. Some say it’s due to smaller crowds.

Are smaller crowds an issue for all historic sites now?

I’m going to immediately block any male whose first photo is himself shirtless. It seems to display a tinge of a narcissistic bent, no?

That canceled TV show you’ll never stop thinking about:

A Serenity Prayer for Our Times:
“God, grant me the patience to work with the unjust systems I cannot change today, the courage to strategically enact progress when I know I can, and the wisdom to know that despite structural oppression, I still can make a difference.”

Jigsaw puzzles, I’ve gone back to them in several stressful periods of my life. My husband has gotten into since the pandemic. We pick 1,000-pieces that are challenging but not crazy annoying. Takes the mind away from the mess.

Headed out to Longwood Gardens to wander the woods and marvel at how nature changes even in the winter. A soul cleanse.

Get out in nature. I’ve been escaping to an arboretum as much as possible. Trees calm and nurture me.
