I was grew up in 1950’s Jim Crow Alabama. Many if you have never known what it was like…water hoses and dogs turned loose on people of color just for congregating in groups, crosses burnt in your yard, hangings, beatings, people disappearing. YES this can happen to YOU too now.

As a bookish kid, I admired the Supreme Court for having the character to unanimously come out against segregation in the 1950s, when no other branch of our government would have had that courage.
So it saddens me to see it lose its way and endorse judging people for the color of their skin today.

In the richest country on Earth, hospitals are closing en masse. In rural Maine you’re driving an hour to the nearest birthing center. The hospital in Blue Hill where I was born is closed. It’s a disaster brought on by decades of pure greed, and nothing short of Medicare for All can turn the tide.

ICE says they're held on state charges, so Federal immigration judges can't hear cases for bond or anything else. The state hasn't charged them, so state judges can't hear the case because there's no case. 1/
