I am reading, 'The Barn', about Emmitt Till's murder. All were acquitted by an all white jury for those who are unaware.
My most prevalent feeling, reading it, is helplessness. Are we still helpless after 70 years? Surely not!

Gives one a bit more empathy towards the Germans during The Third Reich. Berlin was all la tee da. This is a great book about an American Ambassador and his family in Berlin during Hitler's rule and all the changes that came with him. They were all slow to realize. Excellent!

To Tom's point, what determines a dictator, fascist or authoritarian is still up in the air re: Rodrigo Duterte.
The only label agreed upon is, 'bad.' But Maria Ressa, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize who suffered under Duterte did write this book.
