grateful too for gen z. they are eager recipients of the spirit. they are worthy of it. i've felt that since standing rock and since i watched emma gonzalez calling BS in the wake of the Parkland shooting. in some ways i think they are stronger than us. and i'm glad because it was sorely needed.

and hopefully, if needed, pass the torch and the spirit of this moment on to next generations so that it does not die but rests until it is needed. i am thankful for the opportunity to leave this legacy alongside the tough old woman in the photo, fists on hips. i feel like we have played our part./3

emotionally, the sense of hope and a feeling of continuation and leaving a mark for posterity. we are leaving an indelible mark on these younger generations by showing up and speaking out, leading the way so that they can shine with new ideas and innovations and they will remember this always. 2/

and we are, successfully i think, passing the torch to later generations so when they get our age they too will know and remember. the unicorn behind her is her legacy. the style has change, innovated, with this generation but its spark is still alive and well. makes me happy to have played a part.

in my city anyway, the middle aged and elderly were the first ones to show up. we knew before the kids did that our country was in trouble because we remembered what politics used to be like before the era of misinformation and showmanship, violent rhetoric and division descended.

to me she is a symbol of an idea that keeps popping in my head: the older people who have lived through some things and seen how government has operated for decades know how wrong this all is and are calling it out, loudly and consistently. their presence says, "it's not supposed to be this way."

thanks, snor. i like it too. it has kind of a journalistic quality but what makes it for me is how the grey hair of the woman in the foreground swirls to match the swirls on her dress and her hands on hips stance feels like no-nonsense granny resistance. she makes the whole photo, for me.
