As the time grows shorter, it becomes easier to focus on the now and love. All the hurts I’ve carried dim in comparison to the love I am called to give. Love is truly the greatest power in the universe.

My mother stirs in her bed in the room that has become her world. So many emotions the sound prompts…relief that for another day my mama is here to love…sadness that she will face another day of pain and confusion…exhaustion at the thought of all my MS riddled body will be called on to do today. 1/2

I was so blessed that my Mama remembered me for most of the time she’s been on my home and I’ve been caring for her. This week she started calling me Mother and asking me to make it better. I may not recover.

When my sister died in Pennsylvania, the local government's Probate Court automatically notified the IRS, Soc Sec, and the whole state banking system, after receiving notification of death from the hospice. Different states may have a slightly different system, but it's all formalized.

Working in hospice and long-term care settings for the past 7-8 years, this is most certainly true.
After assisted living blew through my mom's life savings (and then much of mine), Medicaid covered her necessary time in memory care. Magas (even those with decent health coverage) who have aging parents do NOT understand what's about to hit them.

I feel NOTHING.
