Our sixth form students went to see Hamilton this week! Students studying history, drama, English and politics all commented that it was amazing and that they thoroughly enjoyed it!

Two of our pupils represented CVC at Forest Edge showjumping at the weekend! Lily-Mai and Freya competed as individuals, both jumping in the 80cm and 90cm classes. Lily has come 2nd in the 90cm class meaning that she has qualified to jump at Hickstead! Huge congratulations to them both! 👏

National Non-Fiction November!
Read non-fiction…for information, to expand knowledge, to explore interests and to relax. If you are curious about, well, anything, there’s a book about it! The library has an amazing selection of non-fiction books for you to borrow. Look in the library today.

Recently two of our Year 12 students had the privilege of being invited to Number 10 Downing Street to meet with Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, Ed Miliband, and Minister for Climate, Katie White to discuss COP 30 and climate change.

KS3 HALLOWEEN HORROR WRITING COMPETITION!

Write a 500-word story by 7 November. Ghost stories are welcome, but stories may involve any paranormal, gothic or supernatural theme, as well as magic realism. Make it as gothic and unsettling as you can! Hand it in to your English teacher and good luck!

We’re looking forward to welcoming you to our International Talent Evening tonight! Pupils have been working really hard to prepare! Please note that for X half (7C, 7O, 7M, 7B, 7I) the performance starts at 6pm, after which everyone leaves. The Y half (7E, 7R, 7T, 7N, 7V) performance starts at 7pm.

Hello Yellow - World Mental Health Day! Wear yellow accessories with your school uniform on 10th Oct to remind everyone that it’s okay to not feel okay sometimes. The library has books to help you with your mental health. Speak to friends, family or school staff if you are feeling sad or worried.

Today we hosted @southcambsssp with their inter-school event involving the Year 3-4 Team Challenge where children tested their teamwork and determination skills across 5 different challenges. Huge thanks for their organisation and to our Year 10 sports leaders!

At the end of last week, our Year 10 rugby team beat Sharnbrook comfortably 43-7! The team now progresses to the next round w/c 6th October. Well done to the players and all who supported the team!

On Weds morning, Year 8-9 were visited by multi-award winning author Nathanael Lessore! Nate talked about the value of reading, respect & kindness, & how all of these will help you go far. He also taught us how to write great stories - it was an inspirational day! Find his books on Sora this summer.

On Wednesday afternoon, approximately 1400 pupils and the College staff walked a 5k route to raise money for international causes. It was fantastic to see the school coming together as a community!

Our pupils like to read and we are really proud of the reading culture we are working hard to further encourage! We use Sora ebooks and our school has the highest number of checkouts of all the subscribing nationwide schools with just over 39,000 titles being borrowed since 1st September 2024!

Staff still smiling at the end of the week, pupils have been superstars this morning - up bright and early, tents all packed ready to squeeze in another activity before we head home. A parent mail will follow when coaches have left with an ETA.

Super proud of our group of Y10 Spanish students who have spent this week in Cantabria, working in cafes, hotels and the Gaudi museum in Comillas. We have also met up with Spanish students to practise lots of Spanish and enjoy ice-cream, tapas, the pool and the beach together ¡fenomenal!
