As an East parent, I see you and your kid. Today, flat out sucked. Tomorrow will suck. Even if they say they're fine, find a professional for them to speak with. My kid is still messed up because I believed when he said he was fine after the 2023 gun violence at East. And, f@ck Polis. Coward

While apologizing

Don’t forget state mandated standardized tests. And now state mandated mental health checks run through Pearson. As if I’m giving anyone my kids’ mental health information. Especially a company scamming schools.

I’m the first generation to go public school in CA enirely under prop 13. We don’t live in CA anymore because of its schools. We vote yes for every school mill levy on the ballot. We also show up: we’ve have been active in our kids’ school buildings since our rising college freshman started school

That is why neither of my straight A kids took a single standardized test outside of the single SAT for college entrance. You don't want to teach them? You aren't getting their scores for whatever bullshit reason you want them.
Now they are asking parents for mental health info on our kids. Nope.

$220 a week for a private tutor we hired outside of school. Most parents can't afford that. This is how we keep people down.
Much like insurance not covering a Paxlovid $1550 script because Covid isn't bad. Designed to let the people who need it die and stop them from being a "drain on society."

It only lasted long enough for my daughter to go through elementary school without it here. Her older brother learned it. It cost us $110 an hour 2X a week for over four months for a private tutor to undo the mess she'd made trying to read and then teach her phonics. Unsustainable as a society.

My daughter didn't learn phonics because she was supposed to be reading when she hit kinder. She has dyslexia and we would have known that long before the FOURTH GRADE had anyone bothered to try to teach her phonics. We tried and failed. She's a straight A honors freshman still sounding out words.

I've read the whole thread. My husband and teenagers mask in public so they don't bring home a virus that has a better than even chance of killing me-we have never had covid. I don't go to large protests but widespread adoption of the # would give MAGA an excuse to attack my family for protecting me

Living in US. It's inconceivable to me that my children have to suffer this kind of societal abuse, that active shooter drills are necessary because active shooters are an ACCEPTED part of our lives.

Remember when Biden took office and there was a serious discussion about whether he should be allowed to take communion? And yet I’m not hearing a lot of complaints about the above sacrilege.

I don't think the margaritas were due process or real. I think photoshop is the wee dictator’s passion.

My child is neither deranged nor damaged. Oh to have the confidence and arrogance of a moronic rich, white man

If you're kissing retirement age, you'll never make it back. Musk will destroy what's left of social security. We did everything right, including saving so we aren't reliant on social security, and we didn't vote for the mess in the WH. Yet here we are.

We were retiring next year. We've already lost 25% in our 401ks. I hate the fat orange man.

Mike Johnson claims to not have a bank or checking account, so he isn’t allowed to decide who has “instincts.”
April 7, 2025 at 2:53 PM
We were retiring next year. A quarter of our 401k and investment accounts are currently gone-probably more now I haven’t looked today. Our oldest leaves for college this summer. We are in the middle of a new roof and HVAC installation. And the orange man thinks this is fine? I could vomit.
