Another landmark judgement by @eucourtofjustice.bsky.social that applies to many member states: even in cases of a sudden surge in arrivals, basic reception conditions must be provided. So will the @ec.europa.eu finally launch infringement proceedings against all (many) member states in breach?

Quite a lot of grumbling about NIMBYism etc in the replies to this, but I think it’s pretty exclusionary that some London councils now fence off large areas of public parks for several of the best weeks of summer so that private companies can hold expensive ticketed events.
MASSIVE legal verdict just in for festivals in London parks.... Questions over whether Mighty Hoopla and Field Day and can go ahead this month.... residents won legal challenge arguing they need planning permission... implications for all other London parks.

It may be that the decision to stop locating accommodation centres in parts of the country takes the heat out of anti-migrant protests. But given the victory they have just been handed, I wouldn’t bet on it

Even if it were true that 1 in every 12 people in London is a migrant without a visa or permission, which it isn’t for reasons explained in this post, surely this would, to a large extent, be the fault of the previous government & Home Secretaries, supported enthusiastically by the Telegraph 🤔
I've now complained to @ipso.co.uk & expect in due course Telegraph will be forced to correct this BS.

They couldn’t even get London’s overall population right, let alone migration stats.

But what are the "right" numbers? [1/n]

While far from ideal, the on-street food services or ‘soup kitchens’ are obviously used and needed. You can’t help but think that the long queues are in fact the cause of embarrassment to people other than the users.
