It was great to talk with IBTS about the crucial role their surveys play in the ever evolving policy and advisory landscape. Consistency is needed as inputs to stock assessment but evolution is essential to address ever more demanding policy questions and increasing constraints - we need a strategy
Our International Bottom Trawl Survey Working Group #IBTSWG coordinates fishery-independent multispecies bottom-trawl surveys within the ICES area.

Very proud of this advice which was development under serious time pressure by colleagues and experts who went above and beyond the call of duty to deliver it. This advice is a major step forward in our understanding of method for sustainable aquaculture, showcasing ICES’ unique capabilities
Challenges posed by fisheries & aquaculture are similar: how can these industries be managed sustainably?
Today, ICES published our first aquaculture advice - a special request to advise on aspects of the Genetic Intrusion Risk Assessment Framework for salmon aquaculture.
