The moment it dawns on you that Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz smuggled in Marxist-Leninist analysis into the mainstream by using the semantic camouflage of Howard Zinn’s (liberal populism-based) People’s History—series of books, and that hundreds of thousands of people don’t even realize it…

Once you’ve read Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz’s best work, you are setting a standard in your mind that will only leave you disappointed with anyone else’s.

Holy shit is Sai Englert’s misrepresentation of Marx atrocious. It’s actually beyond awful. I knew it would be the moment he invoked Edward Said’s own misrepresentations of Marx in making his argument. Red flag—completely unserious. Hey, “settler-colonial academics,” Marxist-Leninists already

So, since my best friend of 25 years abruptly stopped speaking to me and swore off decades of friendship, without any kind of reasonable and rational explanation, I’m left to ponder certain things about the nature of the friendship, and wonder what turned him so cold towards me.

My daughter’s school is teaching the kids that Rockefeller and Carnegie donated money because they believed in the greater good and helping people. I mean, this is just fucking wild, man. Ideological conditioning. I don’t remember my school growing up going that far, or am I misremembering?

Just received this in the mail. I’m expecting great things. This was exactly what I needed.

My daughter is learning about the “progressive” era (1890’s-1920’s), a misnomer if there ever was one. Makes me wonder if homeschooling would’ve been better—but I’m not a teacher, have no teaching credentials and lack the skills or energy, or even the knowledge.

In Hammer and Hoe, shitlib Robin D. G. Kelley says that he interviewed Lemon Johnson in 1986, and that Johnson pulled out a copy of “What Is To Be Done,” by Lenin and a box of shotgun shells, and said to Kelley, “Theory—and practice,” confirming his commitment to revolutionary communism.

Just started reading Hammer and Hoe, by Robin D. G. Kelley and oh boy is it bad so far. In the preface, he has already claimed that W.E.B. Dubois, Amilcar Cabral, Walter Rodney and (get this) Edward Said share the same theoretical lineage. False. Then he groups them all together and says they

The problem with the “ultra left” isn’t that they are too far left, but it’s that they replace dialectical materialism with moral absolutism and purity idealism. “Ultra left” is a misnomer, if anything.

Someday I’d like to write a book. I think I’ll call it “How My Friend Andy Pruett Went From worshipping Gonzalo and Avakian for their purity, to fawning over Hannah Arendt as a ‘profound writer’ to sharing articles by Dailykos, to becoming a total shitlib and asshole of the highest order.”

Anne Irfan’s chapter 6 on Hamas, and then the epilogue are among the most egregious, dishonest, Hasbara-derived and colonial I’ve ever read. I’d say it should be studied, analyzed and broken apart, but I really need to move on to other books at this point. I’m swamped.
November 25, 2025 at 10:03 PM
You can test out how absurd Anne Irfan’s Zionist framing is by simply replacing “Israeli” with English settler and Palestinian with Native American. It ends up coming across like a real parody of colonial apologetics.

For clarification, the PLC has 132 seats total. 66 of these are district seats, which are voted on locally within their districts. 24 of these seats are located in Gaza, 6 in East Jerusalem, and 30 in the West Bank. The other 66 are known as “proportional representative” seats, and are voted on a

For anyone unaware of some basic facts, no fault of your own, because the west is saturated with imperial lies:

Hamas won the 2006 legislative election, which included 74 of 132 seats on the PLC, which covers Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem. They won the broad majority of districts

Anne Irfan’s essays on Hamas are excessively racist, orientalist and colonial. Someday, I’d like to challenge Zionists like her in a live debate, so I can tear apart her arguments, one patriarchal and condescending trope at a time. I wonder if she just plagiarized Hasbara directly or if she rubbed

I’ve decided I need to start annotating the contents of books, using a number system, for each occurrence of the following: 1) colonial framing/moral equivalence or worse, between colonizer and colonized 2) pathologizing resistance to occupation 3) cultural and racial essentializing

Finishing this one up in the morning.

A+ for partial (can only be partial, there is too much for a 90 page book) chronology of massacres, school, shelter, hospital, residential, mosque bombings, summary executions of adults and many children (most in head, some chest), etc.

Even when Lenin was wrong about something, rare as that was, his methodology was consistently correct. He had a nearly flawless ability to identify the correct contradictions that would prove decisive in bringing rupture. The more you read of his analysis, and his savage critiques of bourgeois
