My daughter’s school is teaching the kids that Rockefeller and Carnegie donated money because they believed in the greater good and helping people. I mean, this is just fucking wild, man. Ideological conditioning. I don’t remember my school growing up going that far, or am I misremembering?

My daughter is learning about the “progressive” era (1890’s-1920’s), a misnomer if there ever was one. Makes me wonder if homeschooling would’ve been better—but I’m not a teacher, have no teaching credentials and lack the skills or energy, or even the knowledge.

Anne Irfan’s chapter 6 on Hamas, and then the epilogue are among the most egregious, dishonest, Hasbara-derived and colonial I’ve ever read. I’d say it should be studied, analyzed and broken apart, but I really need to move on to other books at this point. I’m swamped.

You can test out how absurd Anne Irfan’s Zionist framing is by simply replacing “Israeli” with English settler and Palestinian with Native American. It ends up coming across like a real parody of colonial apologetics.
