Worth watching the @novaramedia.com interview with The Fraud author @paulholden.bsky.social. Awareness grows in centrist Labour that Starmer/McSweeny needs to end. But do you also ditch Reed? Mahmood? Streeting? Where are the new people and political vision?
The Starmer-McSweeney tendency is sinking Labour. Their tiny faction is dragging social democracy into an abyss. 🖊️ Neal Lawson

Farage said this was a movement of ordinary people - but investigation has revealed committed racists, a Hilter fan and the owner of a failed sex-doll business.

Very useful summary of why AI is a bubble, why everyone knows this but it keeps going, what may happen when the bubble bursts.
Nvidia invests in OpenAI, OpenAI rents compute from Oracle, Oracle buys Nvidia’s hardware, and Nvidia records huge sales.

Everyone in the circle reports rising revenue, rising valuations, and surging share prices, but the cash is largely moving in circles.

The AI Circular Economy
Big tech companies and wealthy investors are driving an AI bubble - but they won't be the ones feeling the pain when it bursts.

It's now widely acknowledged that AI investment has created a bubble. Investors continue investing, confident that govts/central banks will intervene to stop the worst of the damage, as in 2008. That's probably true. Meanwhile, these same govts say there's no money for public services.
Bubble-talk is breaking out everywhere
But more optimistic investors continue to bank on the cavalry arriving if things get really dicey

NYC is going to get extremely intense with Mamdani’s election and Trump’s ire—streets saturated with ICE thugs, national guard, maybe insurrection act, lots of violence. Like Chicago and LA; maybe worse. I wish I had a clearer sense anyone was forming an adequate mass strategy to respond

My latest is the story of how my community has rallied to protect and defend our neighbors in recent days, as ICE has targeted the Rogers Park neighborhood in Chicago. "This is not a story about a moment of victory, but a moment of being reminded of our power."

The US arms Israel, so it could stop the genocide whenever it pleased. Yet we're now seeing commentary suggesting that this is somehow down to Trump personally - he is "like a juggernaut" (Guardian). (1/2)

New Substack post from me about Jenrick and what exactly the right means by "integration".
Jenrick, racism and "integration"
Jenrick’s comments on Handsworth were plainly racist, based as they were on the idea that if a white person is in a place where they can’t see another white person, something is horribly wrong.

So, Gaza becomes - a protectorate, a mandate territory, a colony? Ruled over by colonial governors Trump and mass murderer Blair, who rebuild the Palestinians' country to suit the needs of international capital. Arab ruling classes smile and nod. (1/3)

Ok. They’ve pissed me off.

I’m back to tell you 3 things about ID cards:

1. Migrants ALREADY HAVE biometric ID cards & govts have been trying to digitise them for years w repeated fuckups & failures causing complete chaos - they don’t work, you do not want that system for you.

Years of nothing to do all day, cooking in the bathroom, dodging racists to get the kids to school, huge sums spent on taxis because the govt won't pay for buses or trains. Nothing like the luxury hotels the right talks about.

On the Trump visit, the right-wing press all but say out loud that Britain has very little power in the world, the govt should do whatever the US wants and no problems with the royals staging Disneyland pageantry for visiting autocrats. Striking change from previous Tory ideas.
