Researching history of colonialism, slavery and land enclosure. Life long love of Scottish Highlands and outdoors.
Yesterday was my last day in the Highlands before the long drive south. A bit dreich at times, but a fine walk to the waterfall through forest from Invercauld Bridge.

A history of enclosure combined with amazing photography. This is an important book offering a unique insight into the story and culture of Common Land.

Thoroughly enjoyed #Lindisfarne this evening led by founder member Rod Clements. Not lost their magic, though plenty of nostalgia hearing familiar songs from the 70s. They are a linving tribute to the quality of Alan Hull's lyrics and music.

An outstanding 2nd half performance from Tipperary to overcome Cork and win the coveted All Ireland Hurling Trophy. Tickets were hard to come by so watched at home. Great to see it was live on BBC2

Seeing the line of parking metres on the road below the ##Cairngorm left me feeling nostalgic for my younger days when there was scant competition for parking spaces below Munros across the Highlands and certainly no parking charges. How the world has changed.

I'm in Aviemore after driving yesterday from Oban. A couple of days to enjoy the wonderful #Rothiemurchus forest before the long journey back south.

At last, 30 hours late the Coll to Oban ferry has arrived shining a spotlight on the fragility of life on Scottish islands that depend on a reliable connection to the mainland.
