(He/him) Plays too many games
Pretty sure it was either the old Metal Eldar Warriors/Guardians or a War Walker which never managed to stay glued together

Day 31 of 31 Days of Horror, “Halloween Night” Haunt, took a little bit to get going but once it did it was a whole bunch of fun. Personally I love a “final girl goes on a rampage” movie. Also, end credits was a indie rock cover of Rob Zombie’s Dragula by Lissie that was surprisingly great.

Day 30 of 31 Days of Horror “Kid Friendly” Killer Klowns from Outer Space. Look, my dad showed me this movie when I was like 10 so it counts. It’s prob not appropriate for kids, but I loved it then and love it still.

Day 29 of 31 Days of Horror “William Castle” House on Haunted Hill, love this movie so much. The way Vincent Price mugs for the camera so playfully and Elisha Cook Jr’s perfect fearful warnings to the audience really make the movie for me. Plus who doesn’t love a skeleton?

Day 28 of 31 Days of Horror, “Haunted House I haven’t seen” Umma. Pretty hard to find one on streaming that both looked good and i hadn’t seen as it’s my favorite genre of horror. Settled on this one which had a few decent scares and solid story but the ghost was a little too supernatural for me

Day 27 31 Days of Horror “Creepy Neighbors” 1BR. Solid cult movie, a little slow in the middle but the end was a nice payoff.

And then second half of the double feature was Black Phone 2. So much fun, maybe even better than the first. Who doesn’t love Ethan Hawke chewing just the right amount of scenery?

Day 26 31 Days of Horror, off script double feature starting with Shelby Oaks. Absolutely fantastic, the mood of dread and darkness was delightfully executed. Also really loved that the first act exposition was all found footage style before moving the movie. Top 5 horror movie of the year so far

Day 25 bonus film - Creature aka the Titan Find. Like a Corman Alien knock off with better production values that tells its self “it’s ok to be bad cause it’s a B movie like Forbidden Planet” instead of like writing better dialogue. But damn was it fun in only the way bad movies can be.

Day 25 31 Days of Horror “Feels like a faerie tale” Ugly Stepsister, a good as it was fucked up. Kinda like a Lanthimos movie if he didn’t hold his audience in pure contempt and allowed for the idea of good but damaged people. Gruesome in all the right ways

Day 24 31 Days of Horror “Don’t go in the basement” with House by the Cemetery. This movie was both very fun and exceptionally disjointed with so many abandoned plot lines throughout. But I’m here for Fulci’s lack of subtlety or cohesiveness that he compensates with buckets and buckets of blood

Day 23 31 Days of Horror “Mad Science” Rabid, an early Cronenberg film where a woman gets an experimental skin graft turning her into a vampire who’s spreads a zombie plague. It was pretty great! Loved how the movie just spirals out of control, plus Cronenberg’s usual twisting of sex and desire

If you see this, post a vampire that isn’t Dracula.

Day 22 31 Days of Horror “Wes Craven Deep Cuts”, Hills Have Eyes 1977. Hadn’t seen it, and I figured it was deep enough in his career. It’s a lesser Texas Chainsaw Massacre in all respects. Glad to have seen it for genre history, but didn’t care for it

Day 21 31 Days of Horror “Everyone Dies” Final Destination Bloodlines. So much fun, really did a great job of teasing out things and had a wicked sense of humor. Also, sad to see one of Tony Todd’s last performances

Also between Alien/Aliens and Ghostbusters I’ve always had the biggest crush on Sigourney Weaver

Day 20 31 Days of Horror “Famous Jump Scare” Alien, hard to beat this movie for its claustrophobic sweaty dark atmosphere and then masterful scares from the Jonesy fake out to the xenomorph appearing. One of my favorite movies of all time.

Day 18 31 Days of Horror “Wet Ghosts” Deep House. There’s a lot to love about this movie. Concept of divers exploring an underwater haunted house & how claustrophobic it is great! As are the ghosts or how it isn’t found footage but uses their camera/ POV as needed for effect was neat

Day 17 31 Days of Horror “Killer Kids” The Brood. I just love Cronenberg and I’ve been meaning to watch this for a while now and it did not disappoint at all. Oliver Reed always adds a level of bombastic gravitas and class to anything.

Day 16 31 Days of Horror “Scary Stories Come to Life” I’m deliberately misinterpreting as stories made into movies since I got to see Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein at the Chinese Theater last night and it was fantastic! Pure GDT indulgence with an amazing cast. Plus free poster!

Day 15 31 Days of Horror “Mortuary Mayhem” Mortuary, one of Tobe Hoopers last movies and well they can’t all be winners. The tone was all over the map on this one but it wasn’t without its moments. Was basically a bad CoC scenario smashed with Hills Have Eyes and a B zombie movie.

Also, something magnificent about subtitling the critters
October 15, 2025 at 4:34 PM
Day 14 31 Days of Horror “Dee Wallace” Critters, been meaning to watch this forever and finally did yesterday. Loved it, some good silly fun with a bonus young Billy Zane! Wallace isn’t maybe as prominent as she is in the fantastic Howling but still great

Day 13 31 Days of Horror “Monster in The Title” Wolf Man (2025), I quite liked it! Solid werewolf movie anchored by Julia Garner who is always a value add to a movie. Really liked the “werewolf vision” effect too.

Day 12 31 Days of Horror “Shudder Original” part 2 “Good Boy” should have planned this better but saw this in the theater today and it was great, few A+ jumps and some tears. Max is a very good boy. Loved the making of featurette at the end about how they filmed it over 4 years with their dog
