Cars ruin cities, suburbia edition. Grass verges paved over for parking in Lewisham.

I strongly suspect that those were originally grass verges between road and pavement.

Also Lewisham. I have a suspicion these were once grass verges.

I’d dispute this is the correct answer - should be “motorised” not “vehicular” shouldn’t it? Bikes and horse drawn carts are surely vehicles.

@kickstarter.com has policies and supposedly monitors 'creators' delivery. That clearly isn't happening here.

Fraud from Sitpack basically - take the money from kickstarter backers, steal that, then sell the products again via their website.
November 10, 2025 at 10:57 AM
And they're doing the same on the Xen seat I backed - in stock for delivery in a few days on their website, but fobbing off kickstarter backers who paid over a year ago and have been promised 'any day now' for nearly 4 months.

There are still backers all over forums/trustpilot who've still not received their Campster2 chairs from a 2023! campaign yet Kickstarter have allowed Sitpack to run 2 more campaigns since.
I bought one myself from their store and it arrived in less than a week...

Actually, looking at this again I'm not clear how the whole headtube/bars/fork arrangement works on a Lime bike. Anyone?

I thought we were done with this victim blaming bullshit, at the very least in London from reasonably progressive boroughs, but here's Hackney telling pedestrians to dress like a construction worker to walk to the shops rather than making the environment safer.

I hope no one was riding this when the fork steerer failed.

Citation needed for “share of income remained basically flat at 13%”

That’s not what other sources are claiming.

And SUVs are simply an avoidable and unnecessary danger to people outside them.

Their shape and proportions are fundamentally more dangerous.

They have no place in or cities or, really, on the road anywhere.

That it’s still necessary to do more research on this is absurd but those fighting against safe space haven’t died off yet.

There are things i love about where i live but being able to use St Thomas’s hospital is an odd upside to otherwise traumatic times.

Catching views like this from a window. 🤯

Loads of interesting views on Tolkien down this and associated threads.

But this PTerry quote on its impact on other fantasy lit. (Like all of them) is perfect.

This scheme looks to be properly high quality, although I'm still dubious that 'uncontrolled crossings' have any place in a modern scheme. If theres a desire line should be ped priority

Clearly should have followed The Times recommendations and spent far more.
October 27, 2025 at 11:32 AM
There are always receipts. £200 is the *cheapest* of the chairs the Times listed in their home working piece 5 years ago. Maybe the outrage is that he didn't buy anything decent?

the law deals specifically with crops overhanging a footpath in the country. That it doesn't deal with cars in the city would seem ludicrous.
