"Well, we've got the results back from the Optimus trial."

"Crime way down?"

"Well, *violent* crime was down..."

"...but?"

"Well, they all switched to property crime. Against the robots, specifically."

Puzzle layering in logical deduction games like Outer Wilds and Obra Dinn (with their respective designers), or procedural/emergent narrative with the designers of Shadows of Doubt and Streets of Fortuna.

Sometimes you can read and fully understand and completely react to a thing, and then someone else connects two dots you missed and just... Oh. Oh no.

I didn't even know Casino Royale had been done twice... that's the whole problem solved right there: Bond isn't canon. He died? No he didn't.

Hell, if they NEED TO, make it a meta canon. Kaiser Soze that shit, wrap the next film in the debriefing of an unreliable narrator. Bond as spook story.

Not just the Internet, either - all our communal spaces. The market wants us listening to ads instead of friends and neighbors.

Boy I'm glad that's discourse that I missed.

Of course that sort would line up against Future Class. 😮‍💨

There's a scale and convenience element. You needed a ride to the card shop, you needed someone local willing to buy what you had, or selling what you wanted. Hell, your needed money.

This is instant global access to a store that runs on scrip, and the whole experience is coded to feel like play.

How much did he pay to get that smirk stuck like that?

"I've always found pre-written lines of fixed dialog super limiting. It was painful to write text dialog in ZZT in 1991"

I guess it's a good thing you're not a writer then, Tim!

"infinite, context-sensitive, personality-reflecting dialog based on and tuned by human voice actors"

Here's an op-ed, Tim: citation fking needed. Wtf does "tuned by" even mean? How does a human "tune" infinite dialogue?

And what actor went into the business to edit their own doppelganger?

I haven't fully read it (i tried at least!) but like, I feel like the whole thing of narrative in games constantly being devalued and on the AI chopping block is a bigger and root problem, you can't have better narrative choices it it's the lowest priority being shuffled around art/programming/etc

It's effectively how the Tea Party and MAGA movements pulled off their takeover of the GOP. If your bloc is large enough to stop critical activity - prevent a majority, preserve a filibuster, etc - you can force concessions.

It also created a GOP unable to govern, though.
