I lived in Duwamish co-housing in West Seattle. By the time I moved in most of the original residents had moved on, but the consensus process and since of community remained.

Building a community is a very different task then building a structure.

Cohousing originated in Denmark around the 1970s. There are nearly 200 communal living communities in the U.S. today, including Skagit Commons, a cohousing community for people over the age of 55.
