It’s Friday evening, and it’s getting dark at 4:30pm now. Seems like a good a night as any for a Cohasset Punch.

If you’re looking for the perfect Halloween cocktail (or a damn near perfect tiki cocktail for any occasion), might we suggest the Cohasset Zombie. The unmistakeable fruit-forward Cohasset Punch flavor is taken to the next level with layers of citrus, spice, and pot-still rum funk.

October 16 is #NationalLiqueurDay! Which begs the question, is Cohasset Punch a liqueur or a bottled cocktail? It is officially classified as a liqueur (a flavored, sweetened spirit), but it can be used both ways!

#SpookySeason is here, so that means it’s time to make a Cohasset Corpse Reviver! “Corpse Reviver” cocktails date back to the 19th century, and at the time were intended as hangover cures.

After the fire, Williams became a clerk in a railroad office before founding a bar with Tom Newman—a native of Westchester County, NY who previously managed a hotel bar in St. Louis—in 1885. The two began bottling Cohasset Punch in 1899, inspired by a recent trip by Williams to Cohasset, MA.

Today we remember the #GreatChicagoFire, which occurred October 8-10, 1871. At the time—before his part in creating the first Cohasset Punch—19-year-old Lewis Williams was a business student living with his parents in Chicago. Their home on S. Wabash Ave. was only two blocks south of the burn zone.

A stone lighthouse was built in its place in 1860 and still stands today. When Chicago bartenders Lewis Williams and Tom Newman began bottling their “Cohasset Punch” in 1899 — inspired by a recent visit to Cohasset — they selected an image of Minot’s Ledge Light to adorn every bottle.

At the time, a nearby lighthouse warning against this navigational hazard was under construction, but had not yet been lit. This new lighthouse, built on iron pilings on Minot’s Ledge, was lit for the first time in January, 1850, but was destroyed in a storm just over one year later.

#OnThisDay in 1849, the worst maritime disaster in the history of Cohasset, Massachusetts occurred. The brig St. John, carrying immigrants escaping famine from Galway, Ireland, ran aground on the dangerous Cohasset Rocks.

For the “Night Moves,” @evangaylion.bsky.social blends Cohasset Punch with Hendrick’s Grand Cabaret Gin and a house-made black garlic cordial. A harmony of sweet and savory loaded with stone fruit flavors, the “Night Moves” might just be your new favorite cocktail! #NegroniWeek2025

Grab those last rays of summer and head to The Chipp Inn (West Town, Chicago) before the end of September to sip on the “Cohasset Breeze,” a delightfully quaffable combination of Cohasset Punch, ginger ale, and lemon. You saw the board—it’s only $6! Where else can you get a deal like that?

Cohasset Punch is good on its own, but it's better with friends! Traditionally, Cohasset Punch was always served "&" a peach slice, and you can also serve it "&" your favorite mixer or "&" another spirit for a cocktail. #NationalAmpersandDay #cocktails

A very happy #LaborDay to all workers — especially those who get Cohasset Punch into your glass! Blenders who fill the bottles, printers who make the labels, truckers who deliver the cases, bartenders who serve the drinks, and so many more help bring this classic Chicago liqueur back to life.

This description of Cohasset Punch — published in response to a letter to the Chicago Tribune on August 31, 1934 — seems apt! Prohibition had recently been repealed and Cohasset Punch had not yet returned. Luckily for the drink’s old fans, the Punch again began flowing within a few months.
