“The prophetic tasks of the church are to

tell the truth
in a society that lives in illusion,

grieve
in a society that practices denial,

and express hope
in a society that lives in despair”

Opinion | A Resurrection Faith Needs a Resurrection Church
As anger and fear dominate the public square, a church that follows a resurrected savior should be a balm, not a blowtorch.

One of the things that marked out the early Christians and led to their persecution was their refusal to participate in the imperial cult, most especially refusing to worship the emperor and his family often at great personal, financial, and social cost.

“The irony is hard to miss: The movement that for the past half century was loudest in warning about the dangers of cultural decadence is most responsible for electing a president who personifies cultural decadence.”

Yes 100%!
The legacy of Jimmy Carter serves as a reminder that the most beautifully impactful, human traits often make for “bad” Presidents.

Serving well does not always look like “leading” well.

I feel as though one of those legacies is more worthy of aspiration than the other.

How did we do in 2024? Here are a few of the things I've been working on... I'd love to know what you've been working on!

Freeing myself from shame so that I can be more open about my challenges

“A fire broke out backstage in a theatre. The clown came out to warn the public; they thought it was a joke and applauded. He repeated it; the acclaim was even greater. I think that's just how the world will come to an end: to general applause from wits who believe it's a joke.”
