“I had a feeling that there were people watching what was happening and wondering, Was anyone going to say anything?” Bishop Mariann Budde explained. “Was anyone going to say anything about the turn the country’s taking?”

So, she took a breath, and spoke.

If you wanna read about Neil Gaiman from vulture read this one. While I was reading it they took out the entire portion about Scientology, presumably thanks to threats from the religion.
And from behind the paywall:
"There Is No Safe Word
How the best-selling fantasy author Neil Gaiman hid the darkest parts of himself for decades"

"Editor’s note: This story contains content that readers may find disturbing, including graphic allegations of sexual assault"

In case you're not familiar with @lilashapiro.bsky.social, who wrote today's big Neil Gaiman exposé, she also wrote the 2022 investigation into Joss Whedon that we all read (among other achievements):
The Undoing of Joss Whedon
The Buffy creator, once an icon of Hollywood feminism, is now an outcast accused of misogyny. How did he get here?

Neil Gaiman shouldn’t be treated like an extreme outlier. It’s not fame or following that enables men like Gaiman to act the way they do. It’s power. And power can be A-list celebrity status or it can be the head of any ordinary household or a leader in any local community.

And I believe the victims.

"Do not put your faith
In a cape and a hood
They will not protect you
The way that they should
And take extra care with strangers
Even flowers have their dangers
And though scary is exciting
Nice is different than good"

When someone shows you who they are by their actions, believe them. I'm heartbroken by the latest Vulture article, but this is another wake-up call to continue writing my own stories. What do we do when our heroes fall? We learn from our own mistakes and move on. I was wrong not to see it.
