We have a one-legged (or one-footed, as it turns out) Stellar’s Jay who is a regular visitor. Saw his stump for the first time the other day! 💙

You wouldn't want the fine coating of moss, fungi, and lichens that cover your malevolent form to dry out when you shamble out of the forest for groceries.

Not to be upstaged, we now have an evening grosbeak first-time visitor! Little finch-friend for scale. 😊

New bird-friend visitor! Black-headed grosbeak… cooler than other birds because he has “beak” in his name. 😎 (Gotta clean some of that bird spit off the camera!) 🧽

My advice?
Be the shadow lurking in the fog.
Be the ghost that floats through the manor.
Be the reason "Here Be Monsters" is printed on a map.
Be the moss covered horror in the old forest, shambling in the gloom.

20 years is a long, good life for a cat. But still saying goodbye to a sweet critter that you’ve shared 36% of your life with breaks your heart. Goodbye, sweet PJ. Happy journeys back to your planet. ❤️

Sometimes I think of people in the olden days worrying about locusts eating their wheat or being trapped by blizzards… and how they they Made America Great so their descendents can have text chats about puppets with beds in the attic or their pets dancing around cauldrons in the living room. 🇺🇸 🦅
